Online Study Outfit Ideas

Due to the pandemic, all our classes have moved to online studying. Yasmin Evans looks at a few outfits you should be wearing at home to study.

Online study? We get to wear our pyjamas in class and have no one see us? Perfect!

However great that sounds, not getting ready for the day, unfortunately, has proven to have an impact on our motivation. Making sure to wake up, shower and put on an outfit has played a huge part in helping with my concentration and the amount of attention I pay in my online classes.

Here are some quick outfit ideas to help you stay motivated whilst looking presentable enough that if you get put into a surprise breakout room, you won’t be too embarrassed to put your camera on.

First off, anything oversized is a must when it comes to at-home study; you do not want to be wearing skinny jeans to sit at a desk through a 2-hour lecture! I personally love cycling shorts paired with a sports top and large oversized hoodie (£7 from Primark). It looks like I’ve been working out when secretly, gyms aren’t even open and I’ve been sitting at home eating crisps for a month. Winner.

Now, it’s winter. Although cycling shorts look nice, we’re students and heating is expensive! Get those layers on! Grab a roll neck, any hoodie and a pair of joggers and it looks like you’ve made an effort. The roll neck just adds another layer to the outfit and makes you look more put together, plus it’s super warm!

It’s no secret that jeans aren’t the most comfy of clothing items, but putting on a good pair of jeans always makes me feel great. So, if the day comes when you feel a bit down and you just want to dress up a bit more; mom jeans are a must. This style means they’re not tight at all and they look great paired with any hoodie or top and you’ve got a whole outfit. Mine were £20 from Bershka on ASOS. Primark also does their own for around £13.

Aside from all of these cute outfits to wear for your online classes, remember: sometimes you just need a self-care day. Wearing your pyjamas for a class just because you don’t have the energy to get ready is fine! Never feel ashamed for taking the time to care for yourself. Don’t feel the pressure to have a presentable outfit for your zoom class every day. Some days I just wear a top and some fluffy PJ trousers because people can only see waist up! Life hacks. If I’m ever in this mood, I just make sure to change into a new pair of pyjamas (preferably matching so I feel a tiny bit better about myself). These small changes can make all the difference.

So, if you’re finding studying from home to be hard work, try and put on a nice outfit and go smash your classes!
