Our annual 50 hour charity radio marathon which we call Rebellion is a big deal for us. It is the perfect opportunity for our Rebel members to come together, have fun and exhibit their talents all whilst highlighting important issues and raising money for a good cause.

Every year, students from across the University of Essex put their best foot forward to contribute to the 50 hours of continuous programming (which is no small feat!) in any way they can.

In previous years, we’ve had all kinds of incredible shows: music, politics, society showcases and many other general/special interest segments. You can be as lighthearted or as serious as you like, Rebellion is all about providing a platform for people with a passion and a voice!

We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to reach new people and Rebellion is open to any and everyone who wants to get involved. You DO NOT have to have any level of previous experience to take part (in fact some of the best shows of the last few years have been people’s first time ever being on air) and you don’t even have to talk if you don’t want to!

Show hosting, tech support, event promoter and schedule coordinator are just some of the roles available for anyone interested in taking part. Ask anybody who’s been involved in previous years and they will tell you that it’s a lot of fun and really brings the whole Rebel family closer together!

Rebellion will, of course, be returning for 2023, so watch this space for exciting updates on how to get involved…
