With more fabulous red carpet gowns and Viola Davis taking home one of the biggest awards of the night, it was definitely a memorable end to the awards season. Here is a throwback at the top 8 red carpet fashion hits and oh so sad misses of the night.

HITS:

1. Taraji P. Henson in Alberta Ferretti

Taraji P. Henson was the epitome of classic Hollywood glamour at this year’s Oscars. The talented and stunning Hidden Figures actress was spotted showcasing her cleavage and hourglass figure in a navy Alberta Ferretti gown on the red carpet. Paired with a simple Jimmy Choo clutch, black strappy stilettos, a Nirav Modi’s diamond necklace and a dazzling emerald ring, this was definitely one of my favourite looks of the night.[/cs_text][cs_text]2. Viola Davis in custom Armani Privé

Viola Davis was certainly dressed to win. The Oscar nominated actress for best supporting actress for her role in the thought provoking film Fences, graced the red carpet in a gorgeous red custom Armani Privé gown. From the simple off-the-shoulder cut, the short haircut and the subtle yet illuminating make-up, the 51-years-old actress didn’t look a day over 40.

Now this is an example of vintage done right. The best actress winner Emma Stone arrived at the 2017 Oscars draped in a dazzling gold Givenchy dress full of intricate beading and stunning gold fringe. Accessorised with 18k gold drop earrings and perfectly swooped hair, Emma ticked all my boxes.[/cs_text][cs_text]4. Janelle Monae in Elie Saab

This look caused controversy all over social media, some loved it and some really didn’t. In my opinion, the Hidden figures and Moonlight actress pulled this look off with style. With the intricate patterns, embroidery and Mary Antoinette style, this was the perfect display of art meets vintage-modern.

1. Dakota Johnson in Gucci

There is no doubt that we all appreciate a vintage throwback once in a while but Dakota Johnsons ensemble was a total disaster. From the unflattering pleats, the high neckline and the long sleeves, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress proved that even Gucci can get it wrong sometimes.[/cs_text][cs_text]2. Halle Berry in custom Atelier Versace

Berry took to the red carpet in a blush pink custom Atelier Versace gown paired with minimal make-up and Vince Camuto heels. Although the dress was rather flattering, the look as a whole was not her finest moment. The big curly wig with honey highlights was distracting and over whelming. I would have loved to see Halle rock this dress with her signature pixie cut, sometimes it is better to stick to what you know.

The 20-year-old True Grit star strutted this years red carpet in a sheer pink floral gown and although this piece was stunning on the runway, the heavy floral embroidery, all that extra material and sleeked back hair ended up aging her at least 10 years.

The Swedish actress is known for taking style risks but this was one that sadly didn’t pay off. From the messy bun, the chunky necklace and the frumpy lace tiered dress, this Louis Vuitton creation did nothing for Alicia’s small frame.
